Collage and mixed media: book arts

About this course

Participants will investigate how found books can be altered through collage and mixed media to create new meanings. Practical exercises cover form, space, scale and juxtaposition, using assemblage, collage and decollage alongside found imagery, objects and personal mark-making. Teaching combines presentations, demonstrations, group discussion and individual tuition. Participants will work independently and collaboratively while developing a complete book-art piece or a group of related works, with self-reflection included as part of the creative process.

Is this course right for you?

The course is suitable for beginners as well as learners with previous experience who want to experiment with new mixed-media techniques. A beginner label generally indicates an introductory level, while the course itself includes individual and group work, discussion, demonstrations and reflection on personal practice.
