Colour mixing for painters

About this course

The course examines colour theory through practical exercises using acrylic paint, coloured papers and painted swatches. Participants investigate hue, saturation, value, colour temperature, analogous and complementary relationships, and build a colour wheel for reference. Observational and expressive painting projects connect these principles with painting practice. Teaching combines exercises, group discussion, individual tuition and feedback, alongside selected examples from historical and contemporary painters and colour theorists. Participants are also encouraged to reflect on their own work during the course.
