About this course

The course examines how breathing, posture, gesture and habitual body language influence communication and how participants are perceived. It develops vocal delivery through work on tone, resonance, energy, articulation, volume and vocal variety, alongside techniques for managing nerves and establishing rapport. Teaching combines practical exercises, role play, observation and experiential activities. Participants work individually, in pairs and in small groups, with opportunities for feedback and evaluation. The techniques are applied to social and workplace communication, including a short presentation.

What you'll learn

  • Apply breathing and posture techniques to support vocal delivery and manage nerves.
  • Use articulation, vocal variety, tone, resonance, energy and volume to communicate spoken words clearly.
  • Recognise how habitual body language, gesture and personal presence can affect how others perceive a speaker.
  • Establish rapport and adapt communication to different social or work situations.
