Computer skills for beginners: learn digital skills for everyday life

About this course

The course introduces everyday computer use, including navigating Windows, working with a mouse and keyboard, and organising files and folders. Learners use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to produce documents, simple spreadsheets and presentations, while also exploring OneDrive, web browsing, email and Microsoft Teams. Teaching combines tutor demonstrations with practical tasks, pair and group activities, quizzes and work on an online learning platform. Learners receive individual feedback during the course and share outcomes at the end.

The course is intended for learners who are new to computers and want to develop foundational digital skills for everyday use. Participation includes tutor-led demonstrations, individual practical tasks, pair and group work, and study outside class through weekly homework and online exercises.
