About this course

The class introduces core contemporary dance vocabulary through guided group work and movement across the floor. It draws on Cunningham technique, including curves, tilts, twists and arches through the spine, alongside Release technique, which uses breath to support flowing movement. Participants explore simple springs, jumps and other contemporary dance skills, with opportunities to experiment with their own movement style. Live music accompanies the class and provides an element of inspiration during the movement work.

What you'll learn

  • Apply foundational contemporary dance vocabulary and techniques
  • Explore spinal curves, tilts, twists and arches associated with Cunningham technique
  • Use breath in flowing movement informed by Release technique
  • Travel across the floor using simple springs, jumps and other contemporary dance skills
