Contemporary Printmaking-Intermediate (Tuesday all day)

About this course

Learners develop a series of prints through workshop practice, demonstrations and discussion of contemporary artists. The course covers monoprint, drypoint, collagraph, linocut and etching, with opportunities to combine techniques as mixed media and introduce other processes where relevant. Participants are encouraged to develop individual themes and projects. Informal one-to-one tutorials, group critiques and discussions help them assess their work and refine their technical approach. Newcomers join the current class project, while more advanced participants can pursue independent work alongside shared projects and critiques.

Before you go

• Learners are asked to bring a sketchbook, pencils, an eraser, a range of brushes, a Stanley or craft knife, and scissors.
• Preparing imagery and chosen materials outside class is recommended.
• Paper and plates are available to purchase in small quantities through the studio or college shop.
• A sketchbook for recording ideas, technical notes and research is recommended.
