About this course

The course introduces or extends a range of printmaking processes, including etching, dry-point, monoprint, chine collé, wood and lino cut, and collagraph. Beginners work through test plates and demonstrations before developing their own imagery, while more experienced learners can pursue self-directed projects using processes such as photopolymer, multi-plate and viscosity printing. Sessions also consider composition, how meaning develops through print, and how reflection and unexpected results can inform further experimentation. Personal application of techniques is central, with attention to using studio tools and materials safely and effectively.

The course is designed for learners at all levels. Beginners are introduced to processes step by step through demonstrations and test plates, while more experienced participants can develop self-directed projects. Learners should be able to follow verbal and written English instructions for health and safety and printmaking procedures. Basic drawing skills and note-taking may be useful.
