About this course

The course develops images from personal sources, sketches and projects through demonstrations, guided practice and experimentation. Participants are introduced to screen-printing, etching, intaglio processes and related techniques such as Chine collé, with more experienced learners able to extend existing projects. Work explores how colour, tonal variation and surface texture can be combined, including through layered printmaking methods. Teaching includes step-by-step demonstrations followed by personal application, with extension tasks sometimes set for work outside class.

What you'll learn

  • Develop print imagery from personal source material
  • Apply surface textures to create tonal variation and marks in monochrome and colour
  • Etch metal plates using a range of methods
  • Combine and layer screen-printing, etching and related printmaking processes
  • Select and prepare papers for printing
