About this course

Participants begin by making a copper bowl using blocking out, hammering and planishing. The course then introduces raising, enabling them to form a vessel based on their own design, alongside embossing methods for creating sculptural effects in flat sheet metal. Teaching centres on practical making, with regular, detailed feedback from the tutor. The course also introduces the use of metal-forming stakes and ways to stretch and compress sheet metal with blocking and raising hammers.
