Corsetry for Beginners

A beginner course in drafting, constructing and lacing a personalised corset, taught through demonstrations, workshop practice and individual guidance.
About this course
The course introduces corsetry as a combination of structure, silhouette and fabric construction. Participants examine the historical development of the corset, take professional body measurements and draft a personalised pattern designed for reuse. They then develop a structured mock-up and work on construction details including boning channels, grommets, busk closures and lacing. Teaching combines demonstrations, discussion, workshop practice and one-to-one instruction. The course focuses on the technical process of creating a custom-fit corset and provides an introduction to methods that can be applied to future structured garment designs.
