Creative Basketry: Twining, All levels

About this course

The course introduces twined basketry, in which two active weavers are worked around vertical warps or stakes. Participants study samples, watch technique demonstrations and practise with tutor observation and feedback. Group discussion and show-and-tell provide opportunities to share knowledge and work. The class covers different starting methods, open and close twining, and colour changes for pattern. Learners with previous twining experience can apply these techniques to their own projects, while the course also considers reducing waste, recycling and upcycling.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for beginners and does not require previous experience, although a degree of manual dexterity is required. Learners who already have twining experience can build on their skills through individual projects alongside the taught activities.

Before you go

• Bring a pen and notebook, a folder for handouts, and a small pair of sharp scissors.
