About this course

Participants develop drawing and painting skills by working from observation and imagination across subjects such as plants, architecture and found objects. The course introduces line, tone, colour, simple perspective, composition and movement, alongside opportunities to try different materials and processes. Teaching combines guidance with independent experimentation. Learners practise representing simple forms, explore how artists use visual elements and consider connections between art, culture and different ways of seeing. The course also supports the development of more resolved pieces through regular, focused practice.
