About this course
Participants use a previously developed flat pattern block to cut fabric and assemble a simple calico toile. The course focuses on accurate construction and fit, including preparation of pattern pieces, garment assembly, common seams, edge finishes and simple fastenings. Teaching combines structured demonstrations, guided practice and repetition. Learners also practise sewing-machine setup and basic stitch selection, along with pressing and hand-finishing techniques. They assess the toile’s fit and refine pattern pieces to improve the result.
