About this course

The course develops core garment-making techniques through structured instruction and repeated practice. Participants learn to thread and set up a sewing machine, manage tension and bobbins, select stitches, and work accurately with simple fabrics and suitable tools. The course also covers pattern following, seam selection, tacking, permanent stitching, finishing methods, zips, fastenings and buttonholes. Pressing and steaming techniques are used to finish a garment to a wearable standard, with teaching focused on accuracy, control and consistent construction rather than creative interpretation.
