About this course
The course develops repair and construction techniques through hand stitching and basic sewing machine work. Learners practise stitch types, seams, fastenings and pressing, with attention to control, consistency and sound working methods. Visible mending is explored through appliqué and visible darning, showing how construction choices and materials affect the result. The techniques can be applied to garments and household textiles, including items being repaired, altered or transformed.
