About this course

The workshop introduces wool’s properties and the basic wet felting process through layered, manipulated fibres. Participants make small felt samples to investigate colour blending, pattern and texture, then use simple embroidery stitches to enhance or contrast the felted designs. Needle-felted embellishments are also explored. The emphasis is on experimental small to medium-sized pieces, which may be developed into a practical object.

What you'll learn

  • Apply the basic wet felting technique to create compacted woollen felt
  • Blend colours and construct patterns through layering and manipulating fibres
  • Explore texture using felt-making and needle-felted embellishments
  • Use simple embroidery stitches to decorate and add texture to felt
  • Experiment with wool and felt samples as the basis for a practical object
