About this course

Participants set individual writing goals, discuss their experience and share their work with the group. Workshop discussions and feedback from the tutor and fellow writers are used to examine how writing engages readers and how structure can be strengthened. The course also focuses on editing participants’ own work. New material is developed and reviewed week by week, with opportunities to discuss progress and refine writing through group feedback.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for writers with some previous creative writing experience and is labelled Improver. Participation involves bringing original work to share, discussing it with the group and engaging with feedback. Good written and spoken English is specified.

  • Suitable for learners developing beyond introductory creative writing
  • Requires sharing and discussing personal writing in a group setting
  • Includes feedback from both the tutor and fellow writers

Before you go

  • Bring something to write with, such as paper and a pencil, a laptop, an electronic notebook or a phone.
  • Bring a piece of writing of around 500 words to share and discuss with the group.
