About this course

The course examines film through a programme of complete screenings selected from a range of international films, subject to availability. Each film is introduced by the tutor and followed by discussion in a large group. Topics include the historical development of film form, visual style, film spectatorship and different theoretical approaches to cinema. The sessions place individual films within broader developments in film history while introducing the terminology and methods used for critical analysis.
