Cupcakes: Making and Decorating

About this course

Participants make cupcakes from scratch, exploring ingredient choices, flavour combinations and methods for achieving a light, well-textured bake. The course also covers filling cupcakes and using piping bags, tips and fondant cutters for icing and decoration. Teaching combines tutor modelling with practical baking activities, observation, ongoing feedback and peer review. Participants work on presentation, storage and packaging, and create decorations in themes such as floral, festive and character-inspired designs.

Is this course right for you?

This adult course is suitable for complete beginners as well as learners with some baking knowledge. Basic kitchen skills may be helpful but are not essential. Participation involves practical baking, tutor demonstrations, peer feedback and following safe food-handling and hygiene practices.

Before you go

• The tutor will email a list of ingredients to bring before the course, along with any required tools.
• Participants should bring an apron.
• A container is needed to take completed cupcakes home.
