About this course

The course introduces the cyanotype process, including the chemistry of light-sensitive solutions, paper preparation, exposure methods, developing and drying. Participants explore how photographs, artwork and physical objects can be used to create photograms and prints, with some basic Photoshop work included. Teaching combines demonstrations, examples, practical exercises, individual tutoring, small-group activities and group discussions. The course also considers historical and contemporary uses of cyanotype printing.

Before you go

  • Bring a photograph saved on a memory stick and/or two-dimensional objects such as plants, textiles, feathers, netting or paper shapes for making prints.
