About this course

The course introduces garden design principles and the stages involved in developing a considered layout. Participants survey, measure and analyse a garden before translating their findings into scaled plans with site annotations. They research ideas for a chosen style, create a mood board, and consider suitable hard landscaping materials and plant combinations. The course also explores design responses to issues such as privacy, noise and shade. Work includes producing a plant list, a basic planting plan and elevation, using drawing and planning exercises to develop garden design proposals.
