The class introduces the lost-wax process and how it is used to create a ring without being limited to a strip or wire shape. Learners develop a design through sketches and reference images, then carve it in wax using demonstrated tools and techniques. Guidance covers considerations for making a comfortable ring, followed by instruction on completing the carving and preparing it for casting.

Before you go

• The carved wax ring is cast, finished and polished in recycled silver after the class.
• The finished ring can be collected or posted when ready, usually within 4 to 5 weeks.
• Gold plating or casting in solid gold is available at additional cost.
• Engraving, gold plating and stone setting can also be requested at additional cost; these services add a further four-week lead time.
