About this course
Participants will investigate ways to construct watercolour images, including underpainting to describe form, layered applications and varied brushwork for texture. The course also considers colour mixing, including the properties of opaque and transparent pigments, and uses observation and secondary imagery as starting points. Teaching combines studio tasks, tutor demonstrations, one-to-one guidance and group discussion. Historical and contemporary watercolour practices will provide context, while reflection on participants’ own work forms part of the learning process. Course materials, presentations and handouts are also available through Google Classroom.
