About this course
The course develops practical digital skills for everyday online activity. Topics include configuring devices, using online services, buying securely, storing and evaluating information, creating documents, using digital media, communicating online, recognising digital risks, solving technical problems and considering digital wellbeing. Teaching combines classroom work with work-related material, pair and group activities, one-to-one support, project work and class assignments. Learners complete practical exercises and five controlled assessments, which are marked internally and externally moderated.

Is this course right for you?
The course is designed for adults with limited existing digital skills who are developing beyond the very basics. Learners should already be able to operate a device, use a mouse, keyboard or touchscreen, connect to the internet, open a browser and access an application. English at Entry Level 3 or above is also expected for instructions and classroom communication.
- Eligibility includes being aged 19 or over at the relevant course start point
- Digital skills are checked through an online assessment
- An interview is used to assess whether the course meets the learner’s needs
- Learners may have completed a basic computer course or have some previous Office software experience
