An introductory digital skills course using guided demonstrations and practical tasks to develop essential computer and document-production skills at beginner level.

About this course

Learners work towards a Pearson BTEC Pre-Vocational qualification through tutor-led demonstrations, step-by-step walkthroughs and practical activities. The course covers navigating digital interfaces, using Microsoft Office 365 tools, creating and formatting documents, editing text, inserting images and presenting information clearly. A practical project involves gathering relevant data and producing a basic digital document, including a personal budget sheet. Learners build a portfolio of digital tasks, worksheets and projects, with tutor observation, feedback and opportunities for group collaboration and peer support.

What you'll learn

  • Navigate a digital skills interface and use basic Microsoft Office 365 tools.
  • Create, save, print and format a basic document using text, images, page numbers, fonts and colour.
  • Identify how information is presented in different document types and select relevant data for an agreed document.

  • Follow a plan, contribute to agreeing targets and solve basic problems with support.
