About this course

The course examines why the Magnificent Seven cemeteries were established during London’s nineteenth-century population growth, their history and the people buried there. It also introduces the symbolism used on Victorian gravestones. Teaching combines tutor explanations with relevant documents, including original sources, followed by questions, discussion and reflection. Participants may also prepare a presentation on a topic connected with the course.
