About this course

The course explores how Tower Hamlets can be understood and presented as a destination. Classroom discussion and guided walks examine the borough’s immigration and industrial heritage, riverside areas, green spaces, urban development and changing communities, including visits to Whitechapel, Spitalfields, Wapping, Limehouse, Mile End, Bethnal Green and Canary Wharf. Participants consider how streets, parks, landmarks and local stories contribute to the identity of different areas. It concludes with a supported sharing activity in which learners present an informal tourism idea based on places explored during the course.
