About this course

The course introduces DJ terminology, equipment and core mixing methods through practical workshops, discussions of listening assignments, lectures and individual or group practice. Participants work with turntables, mixers, CD decks and monitors to develop beatmatching, cueing and EQ skills, then apply them to programming and recording DJ sets. The course also covers playing back to back with other DJs and provides an overview of professional DJ work.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for beginners with a strong interest in music and some basic knowledge of dance music and DJing. Participation combines practical workshops with individual practice, group projects, listening discussions and handling audio equipment.

Before you go

• Bring records or CDs and headphones.

• Advice on safe handling of audio equipment is provided at the beginning of the course.
