About this course
The course introduces draping through historical and contemporary fashion contexts, then explores fabric manipulation using twisting, folding, gathering and layering. Learners develop three-dimensional forms on a mannequin or suitable alternative before translating them into two-dimensional patterns. The technical focus includes constructing a basic draped block for the front, back and sleeve, alongside an introduction to corsetry and the principles of structure, shaping and support in garment construction.
