About this course
Participants develop an individual drawing or painting project from initial ideas and sketchbook research through composition and studio work towards a finished piece or series. The course covers oils, acrylics, watercolour and mixed media, with material demonstrations supporting experimentation. Teaching combines individual feedback, tutor tuition, group discussion and peer feedback. Learners explore form, colour, tone, proportion and composition while refining their chosen project in conversation with the tutor.
What you'll learn
- Apply form, colour, tone and proportion in drawing or painting work
- Develop and use compositional ideas within an individual project
- Experiment with materials and techniques across drawing and painting media
- Plan and develop a project from sketchbook research towards finished work
Is this course right for you?
The course is labelled Beginner, but some previous experience of drawing or painting is helpful. It is structured around individual projects, with learners working independently while taking part in tutor conversations, group discussions and peer feedback. Complete beginners are directed towards introductory drawing or painting courses as alternatives.
