Participants make an intensive study of selected artists, historical periods and themes through the National Gallery’s collection of European paintings. The course centres on drawing in response to artworks, with learners working from subjects held in the gallery. It is open to artists, creatives and image-makers across a range of experience levels.

Before you go

  • A suggested materials list is sent before the course; examples include drawing pencils, Conté crayons, pastels, ink pens, coloured pencils, erasers, a pencil sharpener and a sketchbook.
