About this course
The course introduces drawing through experimental mark-making, observation and the representation of simple forms. Learners investigate how light affects objects, describe tonal values from light to dark, and use positive and negative space alongside contrasts of shape and tone to structure compositions. Teaching combines practical studio work with short demonstrations, one-to-one tutoring and group discussion. Learners are also encouraged to reflect on their own work and progress during the course.

Is this course right for you?
Designed for learners with little or no previous drawing experience, including those seeking a gradual introduction before a longer course. Participation includes practical studio work, demonstrations, individual tutoring and group discussion. Learners should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations and health and safety information.
