About this course
The course introduces chalk pastels through mark making, blending, overlaying and colour-mixing exercises. Participants develop studies concerned with tone, colour and composition, drawing on approaches used by historical and contemporary artists working with still life and pastel. Teaching combines demonstrations, practical exercises, brief individual tutoring and group discussion. Participants also reflect on their own work and develop ideas towards a final still-life drawing made from observation.
