What Beginner (A1) Dutch means

At A1 Dutch, learners are beginning to use familiar words and simple sentences in predictable everyday situations.

    A cup of coffee, please.

  • Ask for directions

About this course

This sample lesson introduces basic spoken Dutch through greetings, self-introductions and exchanges about personal information, including names, nationalities, occupations, ages, phone numbers and dates of birth. Teaching combines group work and role-play with structured attention to grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The teacher uses Dutch throughout the lesson, giving learners opportunities to practise comprehension and listening alongside spoken communication.
