Elementary French Term 2

About this course

The course develops French across speaking, listening, reading and writing through individual tasks, role-plays, pair and small-group activities, games and short presentations. Learners practise writing basic words and sentences, listening for key information, and revising vocabulary and grammar.

What you'll learn

• Use common expressions with avoir to describe states such as hunger, thirst and luck
• Apply common prepositions when describing the location of objects and places
• Give and understand simple directions
• Use common verbs in the present tense
• Discuss hobbies, family and related everyday topics in French

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners developing beyond the earliest French basics. The provider recommends prior study equivalent to French Stage 1 Term 1 or around 18 to 20 hours, and also identifies it as suitable for people returning to French after a break. Individual study and homework are part of the expected participation.

• Suitable for those restarting French at near-beginner level after time away
• Requires at least two hours of individual study and homework each week
