About this course

The course develops foundational English through familiar everyday situations. Learners practise listening and responding to people they know, answering and giving personal information, reading simple signs and texts, and writing letters, words and sentences. It also covers numbers, daily routines, likes and dislikes using the simple present tense, and practical language for planning journeys with postcodes and Google Maps. Tutor support is provided while learners work at their own pace.

What you'll learn

• Respond to familiar people in simple spoken interactions
• Read everyday signs and simple texts
• Write the letters of the alphabet, basic words and sentences
• Give personal information in speaking and writing
• Recognise numbers, count to 100 and write numbers from one to twenty in words
• Use the simple present tense to describe daily routines and likes or dislikes

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for complete beginners in English, including learners with no previous English experience. It uses a tutor-supported, self-paced approach and focuses on simple communication for family, community and everyday tasks. Learners practise listening, speaking, reading and writing through familiar personal and practical situations.
