About this course
The course develops foundational English for everyday situations. Learners practise recognising and writing the alphabet, forming basic words and sentences, reading signs and short texts, and sharing personal information in speech and writing. Activities also cover numbers, daily routines, likes and dislikes, and simple journey planning using postcodes and Google Maps. Teaching is tutor-supported, with learners working at their own pace. The course uses familiar contexts such as family, community communication and routine tasks to develop basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
What you'll learn
- Read and interpret familiar signs and short everyday texts.
- Write alphabet letters, numbers from one to twenty, and basic words and sentences.
- Give and respond to simple personal information in spoken and written English.
- Use simple present-tense language to describe daily routines and preferences.
- Count to 100 and recognise commonly used numbers.
- Use postcodes and Google Maps to plan simple journeys.
