About this course

This family learning course introduces essential English for everyday situations. Learners practise listening and responding to familiar people, reading signs and simple texts, and writing letters, words and basic sentences. The course also covers personal information, numbers, daily routines and likes or dislikes using simple present tense. Learners use postcodes and Google Maps to plan straightforward journeys, with tutor support while working at their own pace.

What you'll learn

• Read everyday signs and simple texts.
• Write the letters of the alphabet and form basic words and sentences.
• Give and respond to simple personal questions in speaking and writing.
• Count to 100 and write numbers from one to twenty in words.
• Use simple present tense to discuss daily routines and likes or dislikes, and use postcodes and Google Maps to plan simple journeys.

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for complete beginners in English, including learners who are new to the language. The Beginner (A1) level indicates an introduction to basic English, with tutor support and opportunities to work at an individual pace.
