ESOL first steps: reading, writing and communication (pre-entry)

About this course

Learners practise using English in everyday situations through guided speaking and listening activities, including asking and answering basic questions. Reading work covers words, signs and short sentences, while writing activities include personal information, simple sentences and short messages. The course also introduces completing simple forms, using learners’ own details.
