About this course

The course develops reading skills using texts encountered in everyday life, work and study, including letters, appointment notices, timetables, signs, menus, labels, leaflets and online information. Participants practise identifying main points, purpose and specific details, following written instructions, and using headings, keywords, layout and images to interpret unfamiliar material. Activities also cover lists, directories and alphabetical order, followed by questions requiring learners to select or provide answers about meaning and detail. The course prepares learners for the Ascentis Entry 2 Reading qualification.
