ESOL reading qualification (entry 3)

About this course

Learners work with practical and topical texts, including notices, leaflets, labels, forms, timetables, charts and local news. The course examines how information is organised and how features such as headings, images, persuasive language and sequence markers affect meaning. Activities develop strategies for skimming, scanning and using context to interpret unfamiliar material. Learners also practise locating details, following written instructions and answering questions about the meaning, purpose and content of longer texts. The course prepares learners for the Ascentis Entry 3 Reading qualification.
