ESOL reading qualification (entry 3)

About this course

Learners work with practical and topical texts including health leaflets, food labels, local news, timetables, forms and event information. Activities focus on locating details, identifying main ideas, recognising a text’s purpose and tone, and interpreting information presented through layouts, charts and diagrams. The course also examines features such as persuasive language, adjectives and sequence markers. Reading strategies including skimming, scanning, using context and interpreting layout are applied to longer texts, written instructions and questions about meaning, detail and purpose. The course includes preparation for the Ascentis Entry 3 Reading qualification.
