About this course
The course develops reading across practical English texts, including job adverts, emails, reports, instructions, timetables, notices and online information. Learners practise identifying main points and details, locating information efficiently, and using context to interpret meaning in longer texts. Sessions also examine how purpose, tone, intended audience and layout affect understanding. Activities include comparing related texts, navigating features such as headings, tables, diagrams and hyperlinks, and responding to digital texts using tools including search functions and spellcheck. The course prepares learners for the Ascentis Level 1 Reading qualification.
