About this course

The course develops spoken and listening English for everyday situations, including phone calls, appointments, healthcare, education, work and conversations with people in the local community. Learners practise understanding key information in short talks, instructions and announcements, and take part in discussions by asking questions, responding and taking turns. Activities also include giving short talks, making plans, following instructions and using polite language to express opinions, preferences, agreement and disagreement. The course covers present, past and future forms, alongside pronunciation, stress and intonation. It prepares learners for the Ascentis Entry 2 Speaking and Listening qualification.
