ESOL speaking and listening qualification (level 1)

About this course

This beginner-level English course develops speaking and listening through discussions, conversations, role-plays, presentations and work-related communication. Learners work with longer talks, briefings and discussions, identifying main points and details while practising questions, turn-taking, explanations and supported opinions. Activities cover formal and informal situations, including requests, advice, interviews, services and giving instructions. Teaching also addresses the organisation and linking of spoken communication, grammar and vocabulary, and features such as stress and intonation. Topics include work, education, health, travel, current events and community issues. The course prepares learners for the Ascentis Level 1 Speaking and Listening qualification.
