ESOL speaking and listening qualification (level 1)

About this course

The course develops spoken English for workplace, study and everyday situations. Learners practise understanding longer talks, meetings and discussions, then respond in formal and informal conversations, role-plays and group activities. They also plan and deliver a short presentation on a familiar topic, explain ideas, support opinions with reasons and examples, and give or follow detailed instructions. Teaching covers language choices for different audiences and purposes, including requests, advice, agreement and disagreement. Learners work on grammar, vocabulary, stress, intonation and linking language, with preparation for the Ascentis Level 1 Speaking and Listening qualification.

This course is intended for Beginner (A1) learners developing spoken English for work, study and everyday communication. Participation includes discussions, role-plays, group tasks, listening activities and an individual short presentation, covering both formal and informal situations.
