Essential Digital Skills Entry 3

About this course

The course develops core digital skills across device use, information storage, document creation, online communication, internet searches, online transactions and safe, responsible use of digital services. Participants practise basic tasks on computers and mobile devices, including creating and editing documents with Microsoft Office applications, managing information and using email. Teaching combines explanations, demonstrations, discussions and practical tasks, with mock examinations providing preparation for the time-controlled final assessment.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners with limited but established experience using a computer or tablet, including those who have completed an introductory digital skills course or have pre-intermediate digital skills. Learners should be comfortable with a keyboard and mouse, have Entry 3 English, and be prepared to practise between sessions and complete a final exam.

• A pre-course assessment is required for access
• The course is exam-based and includes a time-controlled final test
• Learners are expected to attend classes and complete required examinations
• Regular practice outside class is recommended

Before you go

• Learners need access to a computer or laptop and the internet to practise and apply course skills.
• A notebook, pen and folder may be brought for keeping notes.
• Computer access may be available at a local library.
• Individual assistance is available during sessions; learners should raise any need for in-class support or exam access arrangements promptly.
