Evening wear: sew elegant garments using challenging fabrics

About this course

Participants develop an eveningwear garment while learning how to manage delicate and challenging fabrics. The course covers accurate cutting and handling, suitable sewing machine settings and specialist feet, seam construction and refined finishing techniques. Teaching combines demonstrations, handouts, guided exercises and individual feedback. Practical sessions support learners as they apply new methods to their garment, with informal assessment taking place through ongoing making and tutor feedback.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for adults at intermediate level who have basic sewing machine skills and an understanding of seams and simple finishing. It suits learners who have completed a beginner course or have equivalent experience, and who are ready to work with more challenging fabrics.

• Learning takes place through individual garment making within a collaborative studio setting.
• Classes are limited to up to 12 learners.

• Bring a calculator for calculating measurements and pattern shaping.
