About this course

The course develops advanced Excel techniques for data analysis. Participants work with logical, statistical, financial and mathematical functions, including COUNTIF, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, DATE, TIME, PMT, PV, FV and database functions. Topics also include named ranges, data tables, worksheet linking, conditional formatting, validation, auditing, sorting and filtering. Further work covers pivot tables, scenario analysis and macro recording. Step-by-step instruction and demonstrations are used to explain the techniques and their application to larger, more complex worksheets.

What you'll learn

  • Construct calculations using advanced Excel functions and values from different worksheets or workbooks.
  • Apply sorting, filtering, conditional formatting and data validation to complex datasets.
  • Analyse data with pivot tables and data tables.
  • Create best-case and worst-case scenarios using Scenario Manager.
  • Record macros to automate spreadsheet tasks.
