Excel: analysing data (stage 2)

About this course

The course revisits intermediate and advanced Excel techniques and applies them to a range of datasets. Participants work through guided exercises covering shortcuts, pivot tables and pivot charts, calculated fields, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX and MATCH, and conditional and aggregation formulas such as IF, IFS, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS and AVERAGEIFS. Teaching combines step-by-step instruction with ongoing learner participation. The course also considers how to communicate data effectively by reviewing audience, impact and the delivery of information, and includes an introduction to Copilot for Excel.

What you'll learn

• Apply Excel shortcuts to work more efficiently
• Refresh and customise pivot tables using calculated fields and create pivot charts
• Use VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX and MATCH to retrieve and compare data
• Construct conditional and aggregation formulas, including IF, IFS, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS and AVERAGEIFS
• Analyse datasets to identify findings, draw conclusions and formulate recommendations for different stakeholders
