Excel Pivot Tables: the Basics and Beyond

An intermediate Excel course covering Pivot Tables, data preparation, reporting, filtering and formula-based analysis, taught in a hybrid format.
About this course
The course examines how Pivot Tables can organise, summarise and analyse datasets. Learners will create and customise tables, move fields, apply calculations such as Sum, Average, Max and Min, format results, group and filter data, and refresh reports when records change. It also covers data preparation, including unpivoting and repairing defective records, before introducing the GROUPBY and PIVOTBY functions. The teaching compares these formula-based approaches with traditional Pivot Tables and explores customised results using nested formulas and ARRAYTOTEXT. Classes are delivered in person or via Zoom, with no outside assignments.
