About this course
The course examines approaches used by historical and contemporary experimental animators before introducing processes including drawing, assemblage, pixilation, 3D forms and found images. Participants create animated sequences, capture stop motion and combine clips through editing and compositing. Teaching combines workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, hand-outs, and group and individual assistance. The course also covers preparing exported sequences for online and gallery exhibition.

This is a beginner course in experimental animation for learners who are engaged in, or aware of, fine art practice. It also expects basic computer experience, including navigating files and opening, saving and using applications. Participation combines practical exercises with group and individual support.

- Apple Mac computers are used for film and animation work.
- Professional equipment and software are available for use in the studios.
- A memory stick or portable hard drive may be useful for saving work. PC-formatted hard drives can be read by Apple Mac computers but not written to.
